MANUAL THERAPY:
A Key to Successful Recovery
Manual therapy is the use of "hands on" techniques to improve the function of joints and muscles, as well as to correct skeletal alignment. Manual therapy can be used to stimulate the recovery of muscles, nerves, joints and ligaments. The primary goal of our physical therapists is to evaluate and treat dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system, most often using manual therapy as part of the overall treatment approach.
When a joint has limited motion our physical therapists are skilled in the use of joint mobilization techniques to increase range of motion, performance of manual stretching to muscles and fascia, and promotion of activities that encourage full range of movement.
If a joint has excessive movement it is important to stabilize the joint to prevent further dysfunction. The Renaissance staff are skilled in the instruction of joint stabilization exercises, postural correction exercises, and correction of neighboring joint motions that might be contributing to the increased motion at the joint.
HEALING TOUCH WITH SKILLED HANDS
Renaissance Physical Therapy's treatment philosophy emphasizes a "hands-on" approach in the treatment of our patients. Our staff is comprised of therapists with extensive continuing education and clinical skills using manual therapy evaluation and treatment techniques. The use of these techniques in conjunction with exercise and stretching provide the patient with the best opportunity for a fast and effective recovery.
