Overview of Jobsite Ergonomic Evaluation

Renaissance recognizes that identifying and addressing physical risk factors at the job site can be pivotal to the success of one's rehabilitation. Our ergonomic consultants have completed the course work, "Ergonomic & Injury Management Training Certification" through Isernhagen & Associates. Susan Isernhagen, P.T. is president of Isernhagen Work Systems. She has worked extensively in the U.S. and Canada in work injury management, and in the training of medical professionals in this domain.

Renaissance's rehabilitation programs include:

  • Work Conditioning
  • Functional Capacity/Physical Capacity Evaluations (FCE/PCE)
  • Patient Education (Body Mechanics/Postural Instruction)

Onsite Work Station Ergonomic Analysis (Office) Examination:

  • Desk height
  • Keyboard, mouse, monitor position
  • Seating system
  • Lighting
  • General workstation layout
  • Physical demands of employee's job tasks, addressing physical complaints

Comprehensive report of findings is included with ergonomic evaluation. Ergonomic adjustments and product recommendations (monitor arm, ergonomic chair, type of keyboard/keyboard tray, etc.) are made in this report.

Industrial Job Site Analysis Involves:

  • Onsite observation of employee's bio-mechanical movement patterns as they specifically relate to required job tasks.
  • Identifying and measuring of forces involved in performing essential functions of job.
  • Identifying factors that put employee at risk for injury or exacerbation of symptoms.
  • Coaching employee on strategies to minimize physical and repetitive stresses
  • Comprehensive report of findings including recommendations for ergonomic adjustments and products

Billing: When possible, we will bill a patient's/employee's insurance for the ergonomic consult (using CPT code V0823). If insurance coverage is unavailable, another possibility is to bill the employer or business directly.

In the instances where insurance coverage is unavailable, Renaissance will often outsource its consulting work to InjuryFree, a larger ergonomic consulting firm we're associated with. For the past 2 years, Renaissance has watched InjuryFree emerge as a leader in the burgeoning market that encompasses ergonomics, industrial injury management, injury prevention, and wellness programs. Their services also include:

  • Creating job specific return to work programs that determine appropriate "light duty" tasks
  • Onsite/mobile conditioning and prevention programs that may include use of MedX lumbar strength testing and training equipment.
