MDT</strong> </div> </td> <td class="staff-bio"> <p>Ben was born in North Carolina and grew up on Long Island, New York. He completed two years of undergraduate study at the University of Buffalo in New York before going on to earn a Masters degree in physical therapy at Touro College in Dix Hills, New York. </p> <p>A physical therapist since 1994, Ben has worked with Renaissance PT since 1997, and took an ownership position in 2003. In 2005, he earned an advanced certification from the McKenzie Institute, USA to become a &quot;mechanical diagnostic therapist&quot; specializing in the McKenzie method of spinal and extremity evaluation and treatment. </p> <p>Outside of work Ben enjoys hiking, mountaineering, tennis, and home improvement projects. Ben and his wife Sara were married in August 2005, welcomed their son, Samuel, in July 2006, their daughter, Isabella, in November 2007 and their son, Charlie, in June 2010.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="staff-pic"> <div align="center"> <img src="images/lui.jpg" style="margin-bottom: 6px;"> <br><strong>Maria "Lui" Asistio, PT</strong> </div> </td> <td class="staff-bio"> <p>Lui was born in Manila, Philippines and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of the Philippines in 1991.</p> <p>In 1993 Lui moved to the USA and in Florida, her physical therapy experience included acute care, out-patient, in-patient rehabilitation , skilled nursing, home-health and teaching. She was an adjunct faculty and a clinical instructor for the PT Assistant program at Polk Community College. In 2004, she moved to WA state and has been with Renaissance PT since then.</p> <p>Outside the clinic, Lui enjoys spending time with friends, watching movies and karaoke. She is passionate about music and loves to play the keyboard. She also likes spending time with her four-legged friend, Baci, a shih tzu.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="staff-pic"> <div align="center"> <img src="images/christina.jpg" style="margin-bottom: 6px;"> <br><strong>Christina Hakes, PTA </strong> </div> </td> <td class="staff-bio"> <p>Christina was born in Redmond, WA but as a member of a military family she has moved twenty times, seeing places such as California, Florida, and even Sicily. She obtained an Associates of Science degree from Whatcom Community College in 2009 after fulfilling requirements for the Physical Therapist Assistant program.</p> <p>Having worked in a Bellingham outpatient orthopedic setting since 2009, Christina joined the Renaissance PT team in August 2011. In addition to orthopedics, she has varied experiences in skilled nursing and acute care facilities. Relating to patient care, she is passionate about educating clients on the importance of staying active and practicing good postural habits for improved quality of life and pain-free functioning.</p> <p>Outside of work, Christina thoroughly enjoys a variety of adventures including scuba diving, skydiving, trapeze, ballet, and &ldquo;tipi&rdquo; camping. Born in 2006, Lily, Christina&rsquo;s daughter, also keeps her very busy.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="staff-pic"> <div align="center"> <img src="images/juan.jpg" style="margin-bottom: 6px;"> <br><strong>Juan Loina, PT Aide</strong> </div> </td> <td class="staff-bio"> <p>Juan was born in the Canal Zone of Panama and grew up in the Chicago area.</p> <p>With an extensive background in personal fitness and fitness training, he is currently pursuing a Physical Therapist Assistant degree from PIMA Medical Institute in North Seattle.</p> <p>Outside of work and school, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 20 years, Linda, their 4 children, friends and family.  He also enjoys reading, exercising and the outdoors.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="staff-pic"> <div align="center"> <img src="images/jared.jpg" style="margin-bottom: 6px;"> <br><strong>Jared O'Connor, PT Aide</strong> </div> </td> <td class="staff-bio"> <p>Jared was born in Binghamton, NY and grew up in Clifton Park, NY, a suburb of Albany. He did his first two years of undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina and transferred to the University of Washington. He graduated from UW in 2009 with a degree in Environmental Science.</p> <p>In high school Jared set the New York State indoor pole vault record. As a collegiate athlete he competed in track and field as a pole-vaulter at both UNC and UW. He earned All-American honors as a Husky after placing second at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in 2008.</p> <p>Currently, Jared is continuing his education in preparation for applying to physical therapy school with the ultimate goal of helping people maximize their function so they can pursue their endeavors and passions.</p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="staff-pic"> <div align="center"> <img src="images/dave.jpg" style="margin-bottom: 6px;"> <br><strong>Dave Nyland, PT Aide</strong> </div> </td> <td class="staff-bio"> <p>Dave was born in Redmond, WA and grew up in Woodinville, WA. He graduated from the University of Washington in 2009 with degrees in Sociology and Law, Societies, and Justice.</p> <p>While studying at UW he competed in track and field as a javelin thrower. He is currently a volunteer assistant coach for the UW track and field team as well as a certified personal trainer.
