Unique Programs

“McKenzie” Approach

Robin McKenzie is a world-renowned physical therapist that, dating back to the 1950’s, developed a system of evaluation and treatment for the spine and extremities.  His system is so highly reliable and so consistently does it yield predictable patterns of results that it is taught to physical therapists all over the world.  The Mckenzie system is a cornerstone of our treatment approaches and it ultimately yields excellent treatment outcomes, quickly.  A tenet of this approach is that it strongly empowers patients to be able to self-manage their symptoms and to maintain the benefits of their therapy programs well beyond discharge.

Med-X Back and Neck Therapy

Renaissance Physical Therapy is one of very few clinics in Washington State that has both the low back and neck Med-X technology.  In short the Med-X machines isolate the low back and neck, on the respective machines, for computerized strength testing that identifies weaknesses that contribute to low back and neck pain.  The Med-X machines also allow for isolated, targeted and safe strength training of the weak back and neck muscles to eliminate weaknesses as factors in back and neck pain.  No matter what type of back or neck problem you have, if it has been present for any significant length of time, it is quite possible that low back or neck muscle weakness has become a source of your pain, in addition to the primary problem that caused your pain initially.  Once we have stabilized your symptoms, there are no better tools available to effectively strengthen your neck and low back, and to do so with measurability.  For more information, click here

Women’s Health – Pelvic Floor Therapy

Whether you’re experiencing stress incontinence, “leaking”, bowel or bladder dysfunction, post –operative pelvic or abdominal pain, pre-natal or post-partum pain, or simply have low back pain, our pelvic floor therapy program is a powerful tool.  This program, much like the “McKenzie approach we also use, strongly empowers patients to be able to self-manage their symptoms with gentle, easy-to-do exercises.  In actuality, it’s not only women who can benefit from this approach.  We successfully treat many men for low back pain, pelvic pain, urinary problems and post-operative pelvic and abdominal pain with these techniques.

Custom Foot Orthotics

There are approximately thirty-five lower body conditions that can be attributed, at least in part, to inadequate foot arch support.  Whether you have “flat feet” or “high arches” custom foot orthotics are often a key component to the solution for the pain you’re having.  For most people that need them, custom foot orthotics are a far better option than the pre-fabricated, off-the-shelf arch support products found in the local drug store.  If you’re experiencing pain associated with bunions, plantar fasciitis, heel pain, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, foot pain from being on your feet all day, knee pain including “Runner’s Knee”, hip pain including “IT Band Syndrome” or low back pain, custom foot orthotics are often a big part of the solution.  Renaissance PT proudly offers the Sole Supports brand orthotics that we believe to be a superior product to other foot arch supports and custom orthotics.
